The last few years are something for the history books, no doubt. Of course, the pandemic will not soon be forgotten nor is it yet entirely past. However, it is beginning to look like we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. (Fingers crossed, of course.) So in addition to the new year and time for those new year’s resolutions, we really have something to get excited about. I want to bring everyone who reads this from the depths of fear of getting horribly sick to new heights of hope by bringing you ideas for six healthy lifestyle resolutions for 2022.

6 Easy Healthy Lifestyle Resolutions for 2022

1. Bring the vibrant life of greenery inside.

This is one of my favorite healthy lifestyle resolutions and I reuse it every year. It turns out that bringing greenery inside an apartment with windows that are sealed to keep out the hot Summer heat makes it hard to grow houseplants. So, this is my most difficult resolution that I must find ways to overcome this year. It’s going to involve grow lamps – more on that subject at a later date.

It is so important to humans and pets to have indoor plants to cleanse and freshen the air we breath. If you have cats, be careful and read this. Furthermore, green houseplants are vibrantly alive and colorful so it’s the perfect way to bring the outside into your home. It also adds to the ambiance of a relaxing intimate environment in your home.

2. Add journaling to your daily routine.

Journaling is an amazing way to get more in touch with your life and lower stress levels. It’s also an efficient way of tracking your activities and remembering what’s important. Additionally, journaling can bring order to chaos and mindfulness to your entire life.

To begin, you may select from a long list of journaling alternatives. Those alternatives might include a simple notebook or a more elaborate printed journal. Of course, you can go from low to high prices and there’s no end to the selection of journals in print. Staples and Office Depot are your first stops for printed journals, but also keep a number of Dollar Store brightly colored little notebooks on hand for instant journaling or list-making on short notice.

Of course, there’s also the electronic journals that you download to your devices. I absolutely love the bright colors of the apps.

4. Get back in touch with family and friends.

These past few years, many people are losing touch because of mandatory quarantines and safety measures. It isn’t past yet but perhaps it’s time to take an extra effort by contacting someone who might be shut in by themselves. Or, perhaps you simply need to get online and reconnect through social media.

5. Invest in a budgeting system and stay on top of it.

This might not be the easiest resolution you add to your list, but it’s a great way to start the tax year right. This is especially true if you’re an entrepreneur. Start a system of record keeping that’s easy to maintain. There are many methods for record-keeping, most of which involve lists.

However, if you use a spreadsheet or spreadsheet software, you’re ahead of the game because you can enter formulas that make your record-keeping much easier. For those of you who are not tech savvy, most are at least familiar with small devices – all of which you can download spreadsheet software such as excel (monthly rate) or Google Sheets (free). Then it’s a matter of setting up your income and expenses and keeping the records current.

Sticking to an easy system allows you peace of mind and a great sense of control over your finances. Without that type of record-keeping in place, you are left wondering and never really know where you are financially. Of course, that’s a good way to bring on daily doses of worry and stress.

You might also consider accounting software such as QuickBooks or FreshBooks. However, these require a monthly financial commitment and it’s best to invest in the software’s professional setup teams if you want it done right. The advantage to this route is that if you keep it up-to-date, you can run reports and enjoy a lot of other accounting functions. Unfortunately, simple record-keeping is more difficult to attain the same results.

So, it depends on the details you want to see for yourself. You might also consult with your tax professional to get their recommendation of what type of software or record-keeping works with their system. But no matter the type of budgeting system you select, make sure it’s within your skill set to maintain or it’s not going to be effective.

2. Brighten your surroundings with uplifting decor.

This is the time of year when the Winter blues come along for many and new decor is an easy, inexpensive way to divert from them. So, go shopping! Buy yourself some bright decor and bring it home. There’s nothing that makes me happier than decorating my home. If you’re like me, this is your favorite resolution. My home is all about vintage so I’m sharing some bright “vintage style” items below.

6. Stick to a low carbohydrate, high protein (Paleo) diet.

Is it a New Year’s resolution list without including a healthy diet? In this site, I advocate the Paleo diet. It simply works if you can do it. After watching the video below, I lost 70 pounds in one year. Sadly, that was without exercise which I don’t recommend but it speaks to the effectiveness of the Paleo diet. Moreover, five years later, the weight is still off. I highly recommend this diet.

No matter your resolutions, resolve to be kind to yourself and others. Remember, all it takes is one person doing the right thing to spread good vibes to all around like ripples in a pond.
