With this blessing, you will call upon all the elements of Earth, Fire, Water, and Air to cleanse a new or old home.
The Steps to Take for Your New Home Blessing

- Smudge Stick
- Matches
- Large feather
- Candle and holder
- Lavender oil and a bowl of hot water
Step One • Collect and Place Everything at the Center of Your Home
Remove your shoes, and jewelry. Then, lighting your smudge stick, proceed to smudge yourself and all your gathered items. Then, let your smudge stick continue smoking in its bowl.

Center yourself and think about the purpose of your blessing. Then say,
“I call upon the guardians of the elements, of Earth, Fire, Water, and Air, to help me cleanse this home.”
Of course, you may substitute your own prayer.
Then, stay still for a few minutes and feel the presence of the four great guardians lovingly surrounding you.
Step Three • Light Your Candle
Light your candle and say this,
“I light the fire that glows in the heart of the home. May peace be here.”
Step Four • Smudge Each Room in Your Home
Go around the house, smudging each room while saying this,
“Cleansing power of the spirits of the smoke, drive away all negativity. Bless this home and bring it joy and laughter.”
Then, walk back to the center of the house. Light your oil burner or fill the bowl with hot water.
Next, take the lavender oil and let seven drops fall into the water. Then, say this,
“May this home be a haven from the world.”
Imagine the scent of the lavender mingling with the smudge, carrying joy, security, and a profound sense of peace throughout your home.
Step Five • Stand Quietly
Stand quietly for a few minutes. Then, look at the candle and bring your hands toward your heart and say this,
“Let the protective flame burn steadily in the heart of my home.”
Step Six • Blow Out the Candle
Softly blow out the candle. Put out your smudge, thanking the spirits of the smudge for their help. Finally, say a word of grateful thanks to the guardian spirits. Namaste!
