1. Sprinkle turmeric on and inside a roast chicken. For a quick, tasty, super-food snack, sprinkle turmeric on children wings and drizzle with coconut oil, then bake until crispy.

2. Add turmeric and ground peppercorns to your slow-cooking chicken stock to make a superfood even more super.

3. Put it in a green, leafy smoothy or sprinkle it on a green salad along with your favorite oil and vinegar dressing.

4. Stir up a curry powder with turmeric, coriander, cumin, ginger, fenugreek, and black peppercorn. Simmer with vegetables, meat, or both.

Yellow Turmeric – Curcuma Longa – Edible The WHOLE PLANT is edible This plant grows in full sun, partial sun or part shade. In addition, you may grow it either indoors or outdoors in a warm climate area. Also, these grow well in 4.5″ quart pots.

Grow outside: Planting season is September through October Plant into warm soil. Also note, you must plant the rhizomes 5-7 cm deep. Turmeric is planted on ridges and do well when planted a distance of 30 to 45cm between each plant. As illustrated in the image above, the little “rhizomes” are what you put in the ground.

Grow inside: Plant indoors in the late winter. Then keep the plant inside all year round. It takes about 7 to 10 months from when you plant to when you harvest. Again, turmeric grows from rhizomes which are fleshy root structures as you can see in the image above.
